A Statistical Report on Completion of 6 Years of GST

GSTN's six-year report gives a snapshot of registrations, return filing, tax payment and system changes up to June 2023. It breaks down active taxpayers by category: normal, composition, input service distributors, TDS and TCS registrants and others. It shows how many migrated from the pre-GST regime, and gives state-wise distributions. It also lists change requests and new functions added to the portal during the year.

Key findings and recommendations

  • Active registrations stood at about 1.41 crore on 30 June 2023, of which about 1.23 crore were normal taxpayers and about 15.3 lakh composition taxpayers.
  • About 44 lakh active registrants had migrated from the pre-GST regime.
  • New functions included auto-unblocking of blocked ITC under rule 86A for active taxpayers.
