What this means

Under Section 83, the Commissioner can provisionally attach a bank account in form DRC-22 to protect revenue during proceedings; you can file objections and seek release. Under Section 79, after a demand order is not paid or appealed, the officer can direct your bank to pay the dues through DRC-13. Filing an appeal with the required pre-deposit stays recovery of the balance amount.

Common reasons businesses in Delhi get this

  • Demand order passed without a reply - often from an unanswered notice
  • Ongoing investigation into ITC or suppliers
  • Appeal not filed within time after an order
  • Dues of an old period not paid

Deadlines

  • Objection to provisional attachment (DRC-22A): file it as early as possible; since January 2022 the rule no longer fixes a 7-day limit
  • Provisional attachment ceases after one year from the order
  • Appeal against a demand order: within 3 months, with pre-deposit of 10% of the disputed tax

How we resolve it — without you visiting the department

  • We find out exactly which order or proceeding caused the attachment
  • For Section 83, we file objections with proof and seek release
  • For recovery, we file the appeal with pre-deposit so recovery of the balance is stayed
  • We write to the officer and your bank to get the account released
  • We then deal with the underlying notice or order

You never have to

  • Stand in a queue at the ward or circle office
  • Meet the officer yourself or attend the hearing
  • Draft legal replies or work through portal forms
  • Chase the department for an update — we follow up in writing and keep you posted

Delhi: the Department of Trade and Taxes holds personal hearings in virtual mode, so hearings can be attended online by your authorised representative.

What to send us (on WhatsApp or email)

  • Bank letter or attachment order
  • Any GST notices or orders received
  • Portal access
  • Bank statements, if needed

What happens if you ignore it

While the account stays attached you cannot pay salaries, suppliers or rent - every day matters.

Everything we do is through lawful, documented channels — replies on the portal, hearings and written submissions on record. A strong, documented reply is what closes matters quickly.
