GST REG-14 is the application to amend the particulars of an existing GST registration, such as address, partners, directors, trade name or contact details. Changes must be applied for within 15 days of the event, and core field changes need officer approval.
Rule 19 splits amendments into two types. Core fields need approval by the proper officer, who decides within 15 working days. Non-core fields are updated automatically on filing, without officer approval.
The amendment must be filed within 15 days of the change. For core fields, if the officer neither approves nor issues a REG-03 query within 15 working days, the amendment is treated as approved. If a query is raised, reply in REG-04 within 7 working days. Approval is communicated in REG-15; rejection is passed in REG-05.
A change in PAN, for example when a proprietorship becomes a company or a partnership is converted into an LLP, needs a fresh registration, not an amendment. Similarly, a business moving its principal place to another state needs registration in the new state. Mobile number and email of the primary signatory are changed through a separate OTP-based process.
Core amendments trigger the same document scrutiny as a new registration. A professional can prepare the application and respond to any officer query.
